(English) Jang Keun Suk Shows his Hallyu Star Power in China through Viewer Ratings

Actor Jang Keun Suk's popularity was recently evidenced through viewer ratings in China.

The recently aired "Jang Keun Suk" special of popular Chinese variety program ‘Happy Camp‘ triumphed the ‘Shanghai International Film Festival‘ in viewer ratings. Both the Film Festival and ‘Happy Camp’ were broadcast at the same time, but according to CSN Chinese Media Research Total, Jang Keun Suk managed to beat out the Film Festival, which featured over 400 famous actors and actresses.

 

The 90-minute "Jang Keun Suk" episode of ‘Happy Camp’ was expected to see a decrease in viewer ratings due to the Shanghai International Film Festival. After all, the festival featured top actors and actresses from China as well as overseas.

However, more than 350,000 viewers had tuned in to watch the "Jang Keun Suk" episode of  ‘Happy Camp’. Following the program, Jang Keun Suk’s fanclub had shot to the #1 spot from the #3 slot on Baidu, and there were more than 20,780,000 search results for "Jang Keun Suk" on Weibo.
